Every animal that comes to Home Stretch Horse Rescue has their own unique story of how they got to us. Some must be rescued, but many horses are simply in transition. Horses in transition are horses that are currently loved and cared for by their owners, but need assistance due to their owners life changes. We offer owners who can no longer care for their animals the opportunity to surrender their animal into our care. By doing so, we can reduce the number of animals that would otherwise be sent to an auction or end up in a precarious situation. We can prevent future rescue situations by taking these animals before they ever end up at risk. Additionally, It offers peace of mind to the owner knowing we will keep their beloved pets safe and happy indefinitely, or until we find a perfect adoptor for them. We try to help as many animals and surrenders as possible with the facility we have. Please contact us today if you know of or have an animal that is in need of our assistance.
We assess the physical and mental needs of each animal that is in our care to create a plan that will put that animal on a path to health and happiness. Only when we believe they are ready to be someone's beloved pet or companion do we offer them for adoption. Every animal that comes through our rescue is given a guarantee of a forever home with us. If for some reason their adoptive home can no longer care for them, we will take the animal back no questions asked. It is this guarantee that ensures the horses and many other animals we adopt out will never have the risk of abandonment and homelessness again.
We are proud to offer leases and lessons with the horses we have at our rescue. Private and Group lessons are available onsite with our trainer. We also offer individuals the opportunity to lease the horses in our care. In doing so, we ensure they actively stay in work and prevent them from becoming field sour. It is imperative to us to keep the horses active and in consistent training to increase their chances of adoption. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in learning more about leasing or lessons!
We offer a limited number of stalls to individuals seeking a facility to board their horse. We offer Full and Partial Care options. Our current amenities include: large matted stalls in a center aisle bank barn, large pastures designed on "Pasture Paradise" methods, large lighted riding ring with jumps, plenty of land to hack and gallop safely, top of the line feeds, great locally grown hay, and a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on quality care and happy horses. Please contact us today if you are interested in learning more about boarding options or would like to request a visit!
Educational Outreach is one of the best ways we engage the public and bring interest and awareness to our cause. We offer schools, groups, clubs, troops and more the opportunity to visit and participate in a “Farm Day” to experience farm life for themselves. We offer a variety of activities and learning experiences designed to interest visitors of all ages, and we are able to tailor our educational themes and activites to suit our visitors needs. A highlight of “Farm Day” for many is our petting zoo, which we use as an opportunity to teach our visitors about the variety of animals at the rescue. Additionally, we are happy to provide our petting zoo to other nonprofits and charity events that are held off farm in an effort to build community relations and increase our ability to bring awareness to our cause. If you would like to schedule a “Farm Day” visit for you group, or if you would like to arrange a visit with our petting zoo at your location, please inquire today
As much as we can, we are trying to use what we have to make a positive impact on the world around us. It's our goal to reach out to society's most vulnerable citizens, so that the struggles they've endured today will not affect who they are tomorrow. We believe we have a unique way to reach these individuals by having them work with and care for the animals at our rescue. It is empowering for many of them to come and hear the stories of these animals and be able to see and take part in their recovery. In doing so these individuals experience the healing animals can induce within them, as well as learn that change is possible for humans and animals alike.
